On Average, I create and post 950 individual pieces of content to social media channels each month, and use Apps to help. These posts get created for personal accounts, client accounts, and my own accounts at Monkey Fist Media.
Social Media without visuals? I don’t think so. Apps make it easier to create engaging content.
Posts with visuals are shared 2x as much over posts with only text.
How The Apps Made My List:
1. Used for 6+ months and still enjoy their functionality
2. Reasonable price point
3. ROI on social posts
4. Ease of use + small learning curve
5. App developers update regularly
6. Connects with phone images and other apps for easy sharing
*Note: i use an iPhone
Top 6 Apps To Create Social Media Posts:
Why: A larger variety of pre-set crop measurements, larger color enhancements slider bars, and photo filters that make you photos pop.
Tips: Clarify the photo, and then adjust the Highlights, Shadows, and Saturation before you add a filter. And, if you share a horizontal photo to (for example) Snapchat it will make it vertical which is not what you want. Best used for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
2. Pic Stitch
Why: A seemingly endless variety of photo collage possibilities. Easy to use and tell a story through photos.
Tips: I use this app a lot for Instagram and Facebook. Remember less is more here. Using 5 or more photos looks cluttered, so keep it simple. You can edit photos as you add, but since it’s a collage, I like to create and export the collage to my photo album, open in another app to add an effect to the whole thing, then post to social.
3. ECP Photo
Why: Great photo effects, textures, and borders. Also has built-in community tutorials for when you need a little help.
Tips: Along with social media, you can instantly send your photo as an SMS (which is good if you have multiple social admins on your account who need to have it), and you can even send your image as a postcard through snail mail. Cute!
4. A Color Story
Why: With one click photos become crisper and brighter, immediately creating attention-grabbing images, even if your lighting wasn’t the best. The app has been a hit with social influencers for a while now and comes highly recommended for its effects.
Tips: When adding your filters and effects, try flipping them around the photo to create a new feeling. A mirrored light flare, for example, turns your photo into an original piece of art. You can even text message the photo to anyone directly from the app!
5. Rhonna Designs
Why: A whimsical app to add pre-created graphics and text over photos which you can pull from any of your photo albums, Adobe Creative Cloud, and even Dropbox.
Tips: Cropping images to ‘Square’ looks the best across all social platforms if you just want to make one image. When inserting a graphic, use the ‘Browse’ button to find the perfect graphic overlays for your branded content.
Why: A quick and easy way to take notes on your phone when inspiration strikes.
Cost: Free, Comes With iPhone
Tips: Set up Notes to sync with iCloud, so you have the same notes on all of your devices. Write the text on your computer, open it on your phone, and then copy and paste your Notes text into a visual app. Easy.

7. Google Photos
Why: My new FAVORITE way to store photos. It has solved ALL of my photos storing issues and has extra goodies in there as well. Free & unlimited cloud-based photo storage. Highly recommended. You can share any photo to your social communities.
Tips: Set your phones Auto-Lock to ‘Never’ when you start to sync, then connect your phone to wi-fi and let it do its magic. For me, I had 9K photos for it to upload so it was an overnight process… Enjoy!
